Basketball and baseball player throughout high school and a year of college (baseball)

Began running at the end of college to "stay in shape" and got hooked on running after my first marathon in Kansas City in '83

Qualified for the Boston marathon in '85 by running 2:49:xx in the St Louis marathon in 1984 (2:50 was the qualifying time in those days)

Met Ann Reis (future spouse) in the summer of '87 while marathon training, married in '88

• Colleen, engaged to Kevin Conroy, lives in Los Angeles,  CA, Lululemon ambassador and professional runner, 2016 Olympian

• Erin, lives in Ann Arbor, MI working at a specialty cloth store, ballet teacher
